I have been reading my sister-in-law’s blog as she chronicled her family’s trip to their new home in Alaska. The thought finally struck me, “Duh! I should be doing this!” I blog with my 2nd graders, I’ve been training teachers how to use blogs in their classrooms, AND even though they live at the top of the globe, I now know what is going on in the daily life of my brother’s family. That’s just awesome!
So, thank you Jolene for showing me that blogs are more than just educational tools, and for helping us stay in touch with you and the boys – all three of them!
UPDATE – Summer 2009
Our family has relocated to the West Texas area, leaving DFW behind. We have embraced the slower pace of life and less humid weather! Of course, “slower pace of life” also refers to slower internet speeds, which has been harder to embrace at times than others
However, we are adjusting.
We are excited to be apart of the Guthrie community! The girls have made fast friends and Darren has already put in many hours up at school figuring out what the job of Technology Director in Guthrie really entails. I’m trying to figure out what my role as K-5 writing teacher will look like in Guthrie. Some days it’s easier to visualize than others. However, I’m really excited about molding Kate into a great writer over the next few years.
So, keep your eyes open for news from our part of the world. But because slow internet is our nemisis out here, there may not always be pictures! And I’m learning to accept that
